Génesis overcomes trauma through play
One night, a torrential storm flooded nine-year-old Génesis’ home in Peru. “I thought I was going to lose my mother and father,” she says. After moving to safety, she started visiting a Plan space for children coping with trauma. “When we started playing, I didn’t think about the rain anymore,” she says. “Sharing made me see that I was not alone … that it’s normal to be sad or scared during emergencies, but together we can get through anything.”
